Eiffel often explores concepts of life and death in his works, which through their composition and use of colour and light blur the divide between photography and painting.
In these two works from his new series "The Place That Was Promised", we see a darkening sky in an expansive landscape where the line separating sky and sea is indistinguishable.
From the vantage point of an invisible watcher on the shore, we look out to the vastness of the universe and are reminded of the insignificance of our existence.
The only light in the enveloping darkness is from a line of fishing boats in one image, and a shooting star in the other, suggesting the possibility of hope in these dark times.
